Later's Alligators
Inspired from the combination of one of my favorite movies, “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” and the nuclear scare in Japan that happened around 2010, this woodcut is a scene in a post-apocalyptic world that has been destroyed by a nuclear catastrophe. In this eerie new terrain, even Alligators, who have inhabited the Earth for millions of years, cannot survive, although the aura of their beings still lingers above their skeletons, green with radiation.
I pull some influence from other artists, most notably Salvador Dali’s work, in the surreal imagery I create. The repetition of elements in the composition help to reinforce the sense of depth in the piece.
This is a high-quality scan of the original hand-pulled print, re-printed on heavy cardstock, then hand-signed and trimmed ready-to-frame in a standard 11x14 frame. It would be a nice addition to any space in your home.
